Common Questions

Does it hurt?
Most people experience little or no sensation when the pins are inserted. Some people are more sensitive than others to the needles. Different brands of needles will be tried or magnets used if the sensitivity does not go away.

How many sessions will it take to “cure” me?
How many treatments needed to clear a complaint depends upon how severe it is and how long the condition has existed. Sometimes it depends upon what has already been done to treat the issue/s.

Does my insurance pay for it?
Check with your insurance. Recently more companies are paying for this service. You pay for the service at time of treatment and will be given a bill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Pain - Back, neck, spinal (including scoliosis, bulging/herniated disks, etc.), gluteal (including sciatica), joint (hands/feet, wrists/ankles, fingers/toes, shoulders, hips, elbows, knees, arms/legs), menstrual, and most types of pain can be reduced (often resolved) with consistent appropriate acupuncture treatment from a licensed acupuncturist.
Allergies and Asthma - People can manage their allergic responses (digestive and respiratory) in most cases by using acupuncture. It can relieve many conditions including exercise induced asthma. Clients often take treatment every other month once they reach a maintenance stage.
Dental Anesthesia - Acupuncture can be used to fill cavities without using injected anesthesia. In others anesthesia has been necessary but in much smaller amounts. People report being able to hold their mouth open further and longer when assisted by acupuncture and have less jaw soreness or pain afterwards. A sedating point can calm the nervous/sensitive patient before beginning procedures. If there is a bad reaction to dental anesthesia acupuncture can be used for faster recovery.
Urinary Complaints - Urinary bladder issues such as prostatitis, incontinence, urgency, frequency, have positive results with acupuncture. Most clients notice an improvement in their bladder function within a few sessions. When kidney issues must be addressed acupuncture is an efficient choice for conditions such as kidney stones and gout.
Sports Recovery and Performance - Sports acupuncture can be used to relieve pain from and heal athletic injuries as well as improve skill, endurance, and performance.
